About TCFA
The Texas Cattle Feeders Association represents the cattle feeding industry in the three-state region of Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. This area, known as Cattle Feeding Country, is the largest cattle feeding region in the U.S. A multi-billion-dollar industry, TCFA members annually market more than 6 million fed cattle – approximately 25 percent of the fed cattle produced in the United States.
vision
To be an innovative, proactive and member-focused organization, committed to the long-term vitality of cattle feeding in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
Mission Statement
To ensure the sustainability of cattle feeding by serving and advancing the economic, political, environmental and cultural interests of cattle feeders and feedyard members, enhancing the reputation of fed beef production and increasing consumer confidence in beef.
History
While the cattle industry in the United States goes back to the discovery of the New World, the cattle feeding industry in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico is relatively young. It wasn’t until the 1960s that cattle feedyards began to boom in the region. It was the foresight of those first few cattle feeders that led to the creation of TCFA in 1967. Since those early days, cattle feeding in the area has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry.
