Mandatory Price Reporting (MPR) was implemented in April of 2001, following the Livestock Mandatory Price Reporting Act of 1999. This act currently requires packers to report the purchase and sale of livestock and boxed beef. Initially, TCFA was opposed to MPR due to the additional cost the system would place on production agriculture. TCFA staff has been instructed by leadership to look for ways to improve MPR to better serve fed cattle producers. MPR is currently up for reauthorization in September 2015. TCFA leadership and staff are working with NCBA for possible changes to the system.
