TCFA represents one of the largest cattle feeding regions in the country. Heavily involved in all aspects of the industry, TCFA works with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Cattlemen’s Beef Board, Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, New Mexico Cattle Growers Association, Texas Beef Council, Oklahoma Beef Council and New Mexico Beef Council on federal and state legislative and regulatory issues of importance to cattle feeders.
TCFA also has close working relationships with a variety of other livestock and agricultural groups. TCFA is an organization that listens, but it is also an organization with a voice.
National Cattlemen’s Beef Association
As National Cattlemen's Beef Association's largest supporter, Texas Cattle Feeders Association has a strong voice within the organization. Working closely on a variety of beef industry issues, TCFA is well-represented on the NCBA board and committees.
Texas Beef Council
Texas Cattle Feeders Association has long had three TCFA member representatives on the Texas Beef Council, which was formed in 1986. TBC is certified to collect Beef Checkoff funds and retains half of each Checkoff dollar to use for state promotions and research programs. The other half goes to Cattlemen’s Beef Board for national programs.
Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board
Comprised of 106 members from state beef, dairy, veal and farm organizations, the Board establishes budget for promotion, information, research programs and administration. A 12-member Executive Committee is elected by the Board and oversees implementation of the budget, carries out policies and conducts administrative business. A 20-member Operating Committee carries out budgeted programs and consists of 10 CBB members and 10 appointed by the Federation of State Beef Councils.
U.S. Meat Export Federation
The U.S. Meat Export Federation's mission is to grow foreign markets for U.S. beef, an objective that is crucial to the overall viability of our industry. TCFA has long been an active member of the USMEF and has provided several leaders through the years.
Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association
TCFA works closely with the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA), especially in addressing government policy concerns at the federal level. When it comes to Oklahoma state government issues, OCA does an excellent job representing TCFA members' interests at the state capital in Oklahoma City.
New Mexico Cattle Growers Association
TCFA and the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association (NMCGA) maintain a close working relationship when dealing with government issues in Washington D.C. On the state government side, NMCGA is a strong partner for TCFA when issues of interest to our members are on the agenda in Santa Fe.
