Texas Cattle Feeders Association (TCFA) represents the cattle feeding industry in the three-state region of Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico and is actively involved with national livestock organizations. This area, known as Cattle Feeding Country, is the largest cattle feeding region in the U.S. A multi-billion dollar industry, it annually markets more than 6 million fed cattle – approximately 28 percent of the fed cattle produced in the United States.
TCFA’s membership personifies cattle feeders in action. Members serve together, work together and grow together. For its members, TCFA offers a wide variety of services including government relations, market information, Beef Quality Assurance education and certification, Quality Systems Assessment Program (QSA), environmental services, employee safety, communications, research and youth programs. The Association's member services also include group health and life insurance, group workers compensation insurance, seminars and workshops, and employee referral services.
The mission of TCFA is to serve and advance the economic, political and social interests of the cattle feeding industry of Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
While the cattle industry in the United States traces its roots back to the discovery of the New World, the cattle feeding industry in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico is relatively young. It wasn’t until the 1960s that cattle feedyards began to proliferate in the region. It was not by chance that 10 of those early cattle feeders foresaw the needs and challenges of a growing industry and came together to create TCFA in 1967. Since those early days, cattle feeding in the area has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry.
To maintain and enhance the credibility of our progressive industry, the members of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association believe and affirm:
